Administrator-session script execution via unescaped search parameter
Published Jan 8, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Reflected XSS in Ignite Realtime Openfire 4.4.4 allows remote attackers to run script in an administrator's browser via a crafted search. The user-groups.jsp page writes the HTTP search parameter directly into an input value attribute without HTML escaping. A victim must load the crafted Users/Group search URL; the script runs in the administration-console origin and can read or alter data available to that session.
