CVE-2019-20208Public exploit

Application crash via unbounded DIMS string read

Published Jan 1, 2020 · Updated Mar 5, 2025

Stack-based buffer overflow in GPAC 0.5.2 through 0.8.0 allows context-dependent attackers to crash MP4Box via a crafted media file. The dimC_Read parser copies bytes from a DIMS box into a 1,024-byte stack array until it encounters a null byte, without bounding the write index. Opening or processing a file containing an overlong, unterminated DIMS string is required; the published proof of concept demonstrates an aborting crash, not code execution.
