Spreadsheet formula execution via unfiltered CSV titles
Published Jan 9, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
CSV injection in KeePass 2.4.1 allows context-dependent attackers to execute spreadsheet formulas through an exported entry title. The CSV exporter encodes CSV syntax but does not filter application-specific expressions, leaving formula-prefixed title values executable in spreadsheet software. Exploitation requires a user to export the attacker-controlled title and open the CSV in a spreadsheet that evaluates formulas; KeePass disputes that this behavior is its security defect.
