DNS spoofing via unvalidated DHCP hostnames
Published Mar 16, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
DNS spoofing in affected Swisscom Centro routers allows remote attackers on the local network to redirect domain lookups through the router. The DHCP service accepts hostname fields containing arbitrary domains and registers them in the built-in DNS service against the requester's assigned local IP address. Local-network access is required; affected releases are Centro Grande before 6.16.12, Centro Business 1.0 before 7.10.18, and Centro Business 2.0 before 8.02.04.
