User-to-Administrator escalation via Origin-only CSRF defense
Published Jan 15, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Cross-site request forgery in Serpico 1.3.0 allows remote attackers to escalate a User account to Administrator through a crafted request. The application accepts state-changing requests without CSRF tokens and relies only on an Origin header matching the request origin. Exploitation requires user interaction and an XSS foothold that can issue a same-origin request in the victim's authenticated session.
