Unauthenticated code execution via unrestricted zap logfile path
Published Jan 22, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Improper input validation in Ruckus Unleashed and ZoneDirector firmware allows remote attackers to execute code through an HTTP POST. AjaxRestrictedCmdStat forwards the unvalidated server attribute as zap arguments, letting the -L option select a logfile beneath a writable web directory. No authentication is required; an attacker-controlled zapd response writes an exposed JSP that invokes command handlers and executes commands as root.
