Private-key disclosure via improper access controls
Published Jan 17, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Information disclosure in Trend Micro Password Manager for Windows and macOS allows local users to retrieve its RootCA private key. During installation, the product generates RootCA.crt and localhost.key but applies access controls that let non-administrative users read the private key. Affected builds are 5.0.0.1076 and earlier on Windows and 5.0.1047 and earlier on macOS; the key enables crafted server certificates for phishing against other users of the same computer.
