Private code disclosure via group search
Published Jan 5, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Information disclosure in GitLab EE 10.5 through 12.5.3 allows remote attackers to read private project code through group search. The Elasticsearch-backed Group Search API returns a transferred project's indexed private code without enforcing its new private-group access boundary. Exploitation requires enabled Elasticsearch integration and a public project transferred into a private group; the reported consequence is limited to code confidentiality.
