Kernel code execution via unchecked JSON parameter copy

Buffer overflow in the spectrum analyzer service of Broadcom-based cable modems allows remote attackers to execute kernel-level code. Its JSON parser copies attacker-controlled request parameters into a fixed stack buffer without checking length, overwriting saved registers and the return address. The WebSocket service lacks origin and host validation, so JavaScript in a victim's browser can deliver the request and gain control of the modem.
