Authenticated path traversal file download
Published May 18, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
An arbitrary file download flaw in Wowza Streaming Engine Manager before 4.8.0 allows remote authenticated users to read files via the Download Log endpoint. The endpoint accepts a URL whose path can traverse the server filesystem and returns the requested file; the service ran as root by default. Exploitation requires valid Manager authentication and permits confidentiality loss without code execution or denial of service.
