Remote code execution via unichar attribute evaluation
Published Sep 20, 2023 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Code injection in ReportLab before 3.5.31 allows remote attackers to execute Python code through a crafted unichar element. The start_unichar handler in paraparser.py passes the unichar code attribute to eval, causing attacker-controlled text to be interpreted as a Python expression. Exploitation requires an application to process attacker-supplied paragraph markup with ReportLab; resulting code runs with that application's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
