Administrator account creation via trusted import roles
Published Jan 21, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Privilege escalation in forDNN.UsersExportImport before 1.2.0 allows remote attackers to create DNN Administrator accounts. The CSV and XML import path trusts the attacker-controlled Roles field and assigns the named DNN role without restricting Administrator membership. Reachability of the user-import function is sufficient to create a new Administrator account and take administrative control of the affected DNN site.
