Root command execution via unsanitized tracert input
Published Feb 7, 2020 · Updated Oct 21, 2025
OS command injection in Netis WF2419 firmware 1.2.31805 and 2.2.36123 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands as root. The tracert diagnostic function passes the submitted IP address or domain name to a shell without neutralizing the pipe operator, so appended commands run with router privileges. Access to the web management interface and an authenticated session are required; successful exploitation provides root-level control of the device.
