CVE-2019-19276Network attack vector

SNMP service crash via out-of-bounds write

Published May 12, 2021 · Updated Aug 5, 2024

Out-of-bounds write in the SNMP service of Siemens SIMATIC HMI panels before V16 Update 4 allows remote attackers to crash the service. The SNMP implementation mishandles a specially crafted packet received on UDP port 161 and writes outside the intended memory buffer. Network access to the device is sufficient, and successful exploitation leaves the SNMP service unavailable until the panel is manually restarted.
