Unauthorized protected-environment access via unchecked membership
Published Jan 3, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Authorization bypass in GitLab Enterprise Edition 11.3 through 12.5 allows remote authenticated users to add nonmembers to protected environments. The protected-environment membership workflow accepts a referenced user without verifying that the account belongs to the project. Exploitation requires an authenticated account able to manage a protected environment and changes its authorized user set; no code execution or data disclosure is reported.
