CVE-2019-19101Network attack vector

MITM via incomplete TLS certificate validation

Published Apr 29, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024

Incomplete TLS validation in B&R Automation Studio versions 4.0.x through 4.7.2 allows unauthenticated users to perform man-in-the-middle attacks via the upgrade server. The upgrade service retrieves configuration over HTTP and performs incomplete certificate checks, allowing a privileged network-position attacker to redirect downloads to an attacker-controlled location. Exploitation requires interception of upgrade traffic; altered files may then be delivered, while the advisory does not claim broader system compromise for this CVE.
