Local privilege escalation in B&R Automation Studio allows local users to delete arbitrary files through the upgrade service interface. The service exposes an interface that accepts file-deletion requests from a logged-in Windows user and performs them with elevated service privileges. Access to the Windows host is required, and deletion of arbitrary files can damage system integrity or interrupt engineering operations.
