Undetected client-state alteration via unsigned ViewState
Published Apr 2, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Improper ViewState integrity protection in Hitachi Energy eSOMS 4.0 through 6.0.3 allows attackers to alter client state undetected. The ASP.NET application processes ViewState without a message authentication code, so modified state data is not authenticated before use. Reachability requires low-privilege access and user interaction; no further consequence of the undetected alteration is publicly documented.
