CVE-2019-18582Network attack vector

Administrator-level command execution via report template injection

Published Mar 18, 2020 · Updated Sep 17, 2024

Server-side template injection in Dell Data Protection Advisor allows remote authenticated users to execute OS commands through its REST API. The API evaluates administrator-supplied report-generation scripts as server-side templates, allowing embedded commands to run without safe isolation. Administrative privileges are required; affected releases include 6.3, 6.4, 6.5, 18.1, 18.2 before patch 83, and 19.1 before patch 71, and commands run as the DPA service user.
