Administrative command execution via OS-command allowlist changes
Published Mar 18, 2020 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Missing authorization in Dell Data Protection Advisor allows remote authenticated users to execute OS commands through its REST API. The REST API fails to enforce authorization when an administrative user alters the application's allowable OS-command list, so entries can invoke arbitrary commands as the account running the DPA service. Administrative privileges are required; affected releases are 6.3, 6.4, 6.5, 18.1, 18.2 before patch 83, and 19.1 before patch 71.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=unspecified <6.3, 6.4, 6.5 and version prior to 18.2 patch 83 and prior to 19.1 patch 71
