Incorrect registry permissions in GE Digital Proficy iFIX 6.1 and earlier allow local users to elevate privileges. System-wide iFIX configuration keys in the Windows registry assign write permission to authenticated non-administrators, allowing protected application settings to be changed. An attacker must already hold an authenticated local session; the bounded consequences are unauthorized configuration changes and privilege escalation.
