CVE-2019-17560Network attack vector

Code injection via unchecked HTTPS autoupdate certificates

Published Mar 30, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024

Improper certificate validation in Apache NetBeans through 11.2 allows remote attackers to inject code by intercepting HTTPS autoupdate downloads. The autoupdate system accepts HTTPS content without validating the server certificate or hostname, so a man-in-the-middle can alter plugin or update payloads before installation. Exploitation requires network interception of an autoupdate connection and can result in attacker-controlled code execution in the IDE process.
