Arbitrary code execution via embedded backdoor
Published Feb 7, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Code injection in omniauth-weibo-oauth2 0.4.6 allows attackers to execute arbitrary code through an embedded backdoor. Public records identify the malicious RubyGems package, but neither the CNA record nor the upstream issue names the backdoor's file, trigger, or execution primitive. Exposure requires the yanked 0.4.6 gem to be installed; the injected code executes with the privileges of the Ruby application that loads it.
