Local code execution via untrusted search path
Published Jan 27, 2020 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Untrusted Search Path in bdserviceshost.exe in Bitdefender Total Security 2020 versions before 24.0.12.69 allows local users to execute arbitrary code. The executable resolves a dependency through an attacker-controlled search path, so a local user with the required high privileges and user interaction can cause malicious code to run in the service context; the public record does not identify a more specific loading routine.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
Public exploit references
No public exploit references are available in this record.
Labels summarize the accepted research assessment. They do not indicate a test against your environment.
