Code execution via oversized NVRAM parameter
Published Jan 27, 2020 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in Belkin Wemo Insight Switch firmware 2.00.11396 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute code. GetBelkinParameter retrieves an oversized PowerThreshold value from NVRAM into a stack buffer, overflowing it during process initialization. Any device on the same local network can set the value over unauthenticated UPnP and crash the server; its watchdog restart loads and executes the payload.
