CVE-2019-17014Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Cross-origin information disclosure via invalid-image drag

Published Jan 8, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024

Cross-origin information disclosure in Mozilla Firefox before 71 allows remote attackers to read protected content through drag and drop. The drag-and-drop path in nsContentUtils::GetImageFromContent accepted a failed non-image load as a File object without applying the existing content validation. Exploitation requires a user to drag crafted content from a popup after it closes; Mozilla reproduced the issue only on Windows.
