Password disclosure via reversible XOR storage
Published Jul 16, 2024 · Updated Mar 18, 2025
Cleartext password storage in Ruijie EG-2000SE EG_RGOS 11.1(1)B1 allows remote attackers to recover stored user passwords. The gateway stores password values in /data/config.text and protects them with a fixed byte table, an encoded offset, and simple XOR operations. Unauthenticated network reachability is sufficient; recovery exposes stored credentials without changing data or interrupting service.
