Sensitive edit-summary disclosure via missing suppression filtering
Published Mar 19, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Information disclosure in MediaWiki CheckUser through 1.35.0 allows remote authenticated users to view oversighted edit summaries. The Special:CheckUser results display logic returns stored edit-summary text without applying the oversight suppression state. Access requires the checkuser permission, but suppression rights are not enforced, exposing hidden summary content without enabling edits or service disruption.
