Service interruption via ignored host lifecycle events
Published Feb 20, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Improper host-event handling in Open Network Operating System 1.14 allows remote attackers to interrupt private-host connectivity. The org.onosproject.virtualbng host listener processes HOST_ADDED but ignores HOST_MOVED, HOST_UPDATED, and HOST_REMOVED, leaving gateway state and installed intents stale. Exposure requires virtualbng, interacting host-management applications, and access to the managed data plane; affected flows can remain incorrect or absent and interrupt service.
