API traffic interception via ignored certificate exceptions
Published Jun 12, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Improper certificate validation in the Nutfind.com Android app through 3.9.12 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to read and alter API traffic. The app’s X509TrustManager catches and ignores CertificateException instead of rejecting an invalid server certificate. Man-in-the-middle attackers on the same network can expose login credentials and location data and manipulate API responses.
