Root command execution via unsanitized PLC name
Published Jun 25, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
OS command injection in Tenda PA6 firmware 1.0.1.21 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands with root privileges. The httpd web interface URL-decodes an attached PLC adapter name and concatenates it into a homeplugctl command passed to system() without validation or sanitization. Access normally requires LAN reachability and authentication, but a weak default password and DNS rebinding expose the device to full remote compromise.
