Database compromise via injectable search parameter
Published Mar 19, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
SQL injection in NETSAS Enigma NMS 65.0.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute SQL commands through a crafted search request. The manage_hosts_short.cgi handler incorporates the search_pattern GET value into a database query without neutralizing SQL syntax, as demonstrated by a time-delay payload. Access to the protected web interface is required; the demonstrated effect is a controlled query delay, while the source record also reports database compromise and potential system-command execution as the mysql user.
