Improper input validation in Cisco StarOS before 21.16.1 allows remote attackers to interrupt eNodeB service via crafted SCTP traffic. The MME implementation accepts a crafted SCTP message without sufficient validation and then stops sending SCTP messages to the connected eNodeB. Exploitation requires a man-in-the-middle position between the eNodeB and MME; the resulting interruption affects availability without reported data disclosure or modification.
