Remote denial of service via unchecked message length
Published Apr 27, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Denial of service in SHAREit 4.0.6.177 and earlier allows remote attackers to exhaust memory via a crafted secured-channel packet. The secured-channel parser trusts the packet header's full-message length when allocating memory for the next data segment, without validating that the complete message length is present. A remote attacker able to reach SHAREit's listening service can trigger resource exhaustion and interrupt the system; the public record does not report confidentiality or integrity impact.
