Remote code execution via unsanitized Git ref
Published Apr 15, 2023 · Updated Feb 6, 2025
Command injection in GitLab CE and EE 11.11, 12.0, and 12.1 before 11.11.8, 12.0.6, and 12.1.6 allows remote attackers to execute code. The wiki_blobs search scope passes the ref parameter directly to a Git log command, so a value such as --output selects an attacker-chosen file. Reachability requires project wiki search access and controlled wiki commit content; overwriting the git account's authorized_keys file grants code execution as that account.
