Code execution via installer DLL search hijack
Published Feb 20, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
DLL hijacking in affected Trend Micro product installers allows attackers to execute code when an authorized user runs a tainted installer. The installation package loads an attacker-supplied DLL from the installer's local folder without verifying that the library is trusted. Exploitation is limited to initial installation and requires an authorized user to download the malicious DLL locally and run the installer; successful loading executes the DLL's code.
