CVE-2019-14596

Local service interruption via undisclosed installer flaw

Published Jan 17, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024

Improper access control in the Intel Chipset Device Software installer before 10.1.18088.8158 allows local users to interrupt service. Intel identifies the affected locus only as the installer and does not disclose which access-control operation mishandles local input. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access and user interaction; the documented consequence is availability loss, with the failure mode undisclosed.
