Account compromise via missing authentication lockout
Published Mar 13, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Improper authentication throttling in Ricoh SP C250DN firmware 1.05 allows remote attackers to obtain local account credentials. The authentication method accepts repeated credential guesses without locking the targeted local account, enabling brute-force credential discovery. Network access to the printer's authentication interface is required; successful guessing discloses valid local account credentials.
