Kernel memory corruption via module-size integer overflow
Published Feb 7, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Integer overflow in Qualcomm Snapdragon Industrial IOT MDM9206 and MDM9607 allows local users to corrupt kernel memory during module loading. During module loading, subsequent size additions are not checked for wraparound before allocation, so later data exceeds the undersized buffer. Low-privileged local access is required, and the resulting overwrite occurs in kernel memory on the affected device.
