CVE-2019-14028

Local buffer overwrite via unchecked SSID copy

Published Mar 5, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024

Out-of-bounds write in Qualcomm Snapdragon allows local users to compromise affected chipset firmware via malformed Wi-Fi SSIDs. The WLAN path copies an SSID with memcpy without validating its length, overwriting the destination buffer. Exploitation requires local low-privilege access to provide crafted SSID data; the resulting memory corruption can affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
