Arbitrary file overwrite via misclassified drive paths

Path traversal in Git for Visual Studio in Visual Studio 2017 and 2019 allows remote attackers to overwrite files through a crafted clone. Checkout path validation treats an absolute path whose substituted-drive designator is nonalphabetic or Unicode as a relative path, then writes the repository entry to that logical drive. Exploitation requires cloning an untrusted repository while the referenced nonalphabetic drive has been registered with subst; the bounded consequence is arbitrary file overwrite on that drive.
