Remote code execution in Git for Visual Studio 2017 and 2019 allows remote attackers to run code through a crafted recursive clone. Git for Windows misquotes a submodule name ending in a backslash, causing later SSH arguments to be parsed as options that can launch arbitrary commands. Exploitation requires user interaction with an untrusted recursive clone using an SSH-backed submodule, and code runs in that user's context.
