Administrative access via reused default passphrase
Published Mar 13, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Credential exposure in Voo-branded NETGEAR CG3700b firmware 2.02.03 allows attackers to recover the administrative passphrase. The firmware initializes the HTTP Basic Authentication credential and WPA2 pre-shared key with the same eight-character default value. Attackers able to brute-force either the local-network management login or the wireless key consequently obtain access across both security boundaries.
