Authenticated code execution via malformed cookie parsing
Published Mar 13, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stack buffer overflow in Brother printer firmware allows remote authenticated users to execute code through a crafted web request. The embedded web server mishandles a crafted Cookie value during parsing, overflowing a stack buffer and overwriting control data. Low-privileged web access is required; malformed requests crash the printer, while successful exploitation runs code on the device.
