Unauthenticated chat manipulation via inverted login check
Published Mar 20, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Missing authorization in WP Live Chat Support before 8.0.33 allows remote attackers to read chat logs and manipulate chat sessions via REST requests. The wplc_api_permission_check function returns true when is_user_logged_in reports false, so accept_chat, end_chat, and send_message accept requests without nonce validation. No account or user interaction is required; an attacker can exfiltrate chat logs, send messages, accept chats, or terminate sessions.
