Script execution and local file disclosure via email
Published Mar 18, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Cross-site scripting in TypeApp for Android 1.9.5.35 and earlier allows remote attackers to run script through a crafted email. The email HTML renderer passes event-handler attributes to an Android WebView and accepts src attributes that load arbitrary local files. Exploitation requires the recipient to view the message and READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission to be granted, exposing files readable by the app.
