Script execution and file reads via crafted email
Published Mar 18, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Cross-site scripting in BlueMail 1.9.5.36 and earlier for Android allows remote attackers to run script by sending a crafted email. BlueMail renders attacker-controlled HTML in an Android WebView without neutralizing event-handler attributes and permits src references to load local files. Execution requires the recipient to view the message; local-file access additionally requires READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE and can expose files readable under that permission.
