CVE-2019-11939Network attack vector

Server crash via unchecked container size

Published Mar 18, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Denial of service in Facebook Thrift before 2020.03.16.00 allows remote attackers to crash Go servers via undersized messages. The Go binary and compact protocol readers trust declared map, list, and set counts and preallocate containers before comparing those counts with remaining payload bytes. Any unauthenticated client able to submit a Thrift message can exhaust server memory and terminate the process; confidentiality and integrity are unaffected.
