Unauthenticated code execution via pdkinstall plugin uploads

Published Jun 3, 2019 · Updated Oct 21, 2025

Code execution in Atlassian Crowd's pdkinstall plugin allows remote attackers to run arbitrary code via unauthenticated uploads. Crowd and Crowd Data Center release builds incorrectly enable this development plugin, allowing attacker-supplied JAR plugins to be installed through /crowd/admin/uploadplugin.action. Network access to the affected instance is sufficient, with no account or user interaction required; installed code executes within the Crowd service's privileges.
