CVE-2019-10940Network attack vector

Administrative device control via incorrect session validation

Published Jan 16, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Incorrect privilege assignment in Siemens SINEMA Server before 14.0 SP2 Update 1 lets remote authenticated users administer connected devices. The session-validation path accepts a low-privilege user's valid session for firmware updates and other administrative functions without enforcing the required privilege. Network access and a low-privilege account are required; exploitation grants administrative control over the server and its managed devices.
